It is with great sadness to report the shooting of Malala Yousafzai, the courageous 14-year-old activist who campaigned for girls' education in north-west Pakistan. News sources indicate that she was shot in the nick, but is out of immediat
e danger. Malala kept a diary for the BBC, documenting how the Taliban took over her town and closed all girls' schools three years ago. She bravely campaigned for girls' education fully aware of the risks she was taking.
